Description of Responsibilities: The CDO will be responsible for planning and implementing the annual development plan. The CDO will be responsible for increasing gifts from individual donors through the Annual Campaign, Major and Planned gifts and be responsible for the identification, cultivation and stewardship of donors. The CDO will supervise staff with expertise in special events, communications and grant writing. Works closely with the Development Committee of the Board of Directors.

Description of Responsibilities: Volunteers ¿ Recruit, interview, process, place, train, maintain, evaluate and reward all volunteers ¿ Work with House Manager to assure a full corps of professional ushers ¿ Match volunteer capabilities, experience and interests to tasks ¿ Track all volunteer hours ¿ Maintain and update volunteer database, skills bank, and mailing lists (supervise volunteer(s) in charge) ¿ Fulfill staff requests for volunteer assistance and/or proactively suggest ways volunteers can be of service to individuals and departments ¿ Create and maintain all volunteer support/training materials such as handbooks and manuals ¿ Facilitate appropriate communication between volunteers, staff, and musicians ¿ Provide educational experiences for volunteers/opportunities for growth ¿ Implement volunteer grievance policy and enforce handbook guidelines ¿ Serve as support staff for the Rochester Philharmonic League in conjunction with the Director of Education. ¿ Provide administrative support for task oriented volunteer committees such as transportation, rear-guard, archiving, etc. ¿ Provide content and support for the Volunteer Voice ¿ the e-newsletter for volunteers ¿ Facilitate communication and shared work among staff and volunteer constituencies, including website maintenance ¿ Schedule and supervise an annual Archive day in August for staff and volunteers Volunteer Services Committee ¿ Serve as staff liaison to the Volunteer Services Committee ¿ Assist in scheduling, planning, and implementing the Volunteer Enrichment Series, including the formal recognition of volunteer services ¿ Engage conductors, musicians and staff in volunteer enrichment activities ¿ Involve all volunteer constituencies and appropriate staff in the Volunteer Service Committee ¿ Attend task force meetings on training and orientation, evaluation, retention, networking, collaboration, and recruitment ¿ Publicize the volunteer program in partnership with the Marketing Department of the RPO ¿ Develop and present Leadership Training to selected volunteers who demonstrate exception talent and interest in the RPO ¿ Form volunteer committees for tasks to support goals of the RPO Community at Large ¿ Serve on Cultural Arts Volunteer Coordinator Committee and collaborate on the Annual Volunteer Recognition Month ¿ Maintain memberships, relationships and visibility with Lifespan and other community volunteer support networks as appropriate ¿ Keep informed about activities of other community arts and service organizations Special Events ¿ Provide creative and administrative support for fundraising Special Events ¿ Prepare fact sheets and preliminary budgets for all Special Events including Donor Events ¿ Do all necessary permit applications and contracting for venues, catering, rentals, and other services for Special Events ¿ Know and adhere to all legal parameters for events ¿ Provide administrative (and volunteer) support for events initiated by volunteer constituencies, or by staff (pre and post concert private receptions, etc.) ¿ Enhance events whenever possible with decorations, live music, outstanding food, creative elements ¿ Provide Theatre decorations for the Holiday Pops and other as requested ¿ Encourage and seek in-kind donations to defray event costs ¿ Propose and research collaborative events with other institutions as appropriate ¿ Assure proper long-range planning for events ¿ Stay current by researching events nationwide and locally Additional Responsibilities ¿ Recruit, interview, place, and track RPO interns from the ALP Program at the Eastman School as well as students from other colleges both in and out of Rochester
