Description of Responsibilities:

This is a chance to be a leader in the YMCA of Greater Rochester's exciting future of service to the community. We are looking for a Development Professional to oversee critical aspects of our development work and be an integral part of delivering our cause in the Rochester community and beyond. Under the direction of the Chief Development Officer, the Vice President of Development will develop and guide practices that advance philanthropy at the YMCA of Greater Rochester. The Vice President of Development will oversee the YMCA's annual giving strategies and execution, implementation of capital and programmatic major gift strategies, oversee the YMCA's development operations systems (including database, online giving, etc.), and overall constituent management (including identification, cultivation, and stewardship). The Vice President of Development will be responsible for providing strategic leadership, overseeing the annual giving, major gift, and development systems teams, and also be part of a larger team that successfully meets and exceeds fundraising goals in all areas.

  • Bachelor's degree required.
Experience/Personal Qualifications:
  • CFRE preferred.
  • Proven development experience in a leadership role (7+ years in leadership), with a strong track record of successfully leading campaigns, campaign management, advancement services (including donor data, moves management, proposal creation, and development systems), and multi-functional staff-teams.
  • Exceptional project management skills, with the ability to influence direct staff, colleagues, senior management, and volunteers.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and excellent written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience managing development database systems, with Raiser’s Edge experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience utilizing data analytics to drive decision-making.
  • Direct face-to-face fundraising experience preferred but not necessary.
  • Ability to think strategically, work collaboratively, and make informed decisions.
  • Leadership qualities that inspire and motivate teams, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.
