Description of Responsibilities:
The Child Advocacy Center of Greater Rochester (The CAC) seeks an outgoing, organized, and energetic individual for the position of Development Manager. This position is responsible for the execution of The CAC’s fundraising through events, outreach and cultivation throughout the year. This is a fundraising position focused on revenue generation, sponsor and event participant recruitment, and donor cultivation and stewardship. Successful candidates will have solid experience managing events, specifically galas, golf tournaments, and other social fundraising events. The Development Manager is responsible for recruitment, cultivation, and stewardship strategies, the development and management of effective volunteer committees, securing sponsors and successful execution of The CAC’s fundraising initiatives. Candidates should be highly organized, detail-orientated, have the ability to work effectively under pressure, and have excellent writing, communication, and presentation skills.
This position manages special events, the development internship program and supervises the Events Assistant, who coordinates event logistics, volunteers, third party events, and event related gifts in-kind, and holiday giving program. The Development Manager reports to and works closely with the Director of Development and will have extensive contact with the philanthropic and corporate community, Board members, committee members, and volunteers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Becomes familiar with The CAC’s mission, programs, and events and is comfortable speaking in front of and educating others.
- Demonstrates the ability to project a professional and knowledgeable image on behalf of The CAC.
- Represents the agency in networking and community events.
- Is responsible for achieving revenue, volunteer recruitment, and development goals.
- In tandem with Director of Development, creates and maintains fundraising event budgets.
- Develops a recruitment and engagement plan to build awareness about The CAC’s fundraising events and initiatives.
- Works closely with The CAC’s Marketing and Creative Partner to develop a marketing and communications plan.
- Works closely with The CAC’s Database Partner to provide all relevant information required for reporting, as well as the frequency and type of reporting needed.
- Directly supervises Events Assistant and manages the Development Internship program.
- Creates content for event emails, website, invitations, letters, and sponsorship packages.
- Establishes values for sponsorship packages and works with Database Partner to ensure proper entry and tracking in the system.
- Works closely with the Finance Department for adherence to budget, expenses, and revenue generating activities.
- Solicits event sponsors and works with Director of Development on maintaining and growing longer term relationships with sponsors.
- Maintains and grows a prospect list of sponsors and event donors which is entered and tracked in the donor database.
- Plans and executes logistics before, day-of, and post-event, including but not limited to securing event venues, appropriate permits and insurance certificates, pre-event marketing and advertising, delivery of sponsor benefits and sponsorship fulfillment reports, contracting with vendors, etc.
- Prepares and maintains accurate records/data reports to evaluate and manage events against industry best practices.
- Engages sponsors and event donors in agency tours and face-to face meetings with the intent to grow philanthropic relationships for the agency.
- Procurement of high-end auction packages.
- Provides superior customer service to constituents through online support, timely responses to emails and telephone communications.
- Performs general administrative responsibilities including data entry, mailings, etc.
- Other duties as required.

Education: Results-oriented professional with a minimum of three to five years successful experience managing large events and fundraising initiatives in a not-for-profit environment or related field. History of presenting and speaking in front of all size groups. At least three years’ experience in a direct supervisor capacity. High school diploma is required, college degree preferred.

- Self-starter who is comfortable working with limited supervision, able to continually find new and cutting-edge ideas surrounding fundraising and cultivation.
- Willing to benchmark with fellow development peers and others in the field.
- Comfortable networking and possesses the inherent ability to adapt to change and confident presenting or speaking in front of others.
- Must be able to communicate persuasively the importance of supporting The Child Advocacy Center of Greater Rochester’s mission.
- Proficient with computer applications, (Microsoft Office Suite), including word processing, spreadsheets, and database and CRM/event software. Raiser’s Edge, Greater Giving and Asana experience is preferred.
- Ability to travel locally and work flexible hours on nights and weekends.
