The Climate Solutions Accelerator is an inclusive, nonpartisan 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to inspiring and facilitating a large-scale climate mobilization in the nine-county Genesee-Finger Lakes Region. Our mission is to create a healthier, more equitable, and regenerative community by catalyzing local efforts to eliminate greenhouse gas emissions and address the effects of climate change. The Accelerator is working to achieve systemic change via two main pathways:

1. Convening and unifying a diverse range of partner organizations to facilitate action and nurture leadership development within organizations.

2. Organizing and empowering concerned citizens to facilitate individual action, nurture the development of effective community leaders, and build the power of our local climate movement. All our work is infused with an equity lens and prioritizes climate solutions that both accelerate emissions reductions and promote health, safety, and economic prosperity for all members of our community.

Description of Responsibilities: 
The Grants Manager will oversee the full lifecycle of grants, including research, relationship-building, application development, stewardship, and reporting. This role is critical to advancing the organization's mission by securing and managing funding opportunities that align with our work. The Grants Manager will collaborate closely with the leadership and operations teams, as well as program leads to ensure a strategic, coordinated, and eective approach to grants management. This position will play a key role in supporting the organization's growth and funding model strategy as we aim to become and sustain a $5 million organization by 2030.

Responsibilities and Duties:
Grant Research and Strategy

  • Proactively research grant opportunities from foundations, corporations, government entities, and other funding sources.
  • Identify funding prospects that align with the organization's mission, programs, and initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain a grants calendar to track upcoming opportunities, deadlines, and requirements.

Grant Proposal Development and Submission

  • Write compelling and tailored grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and funding applications.
  • Collaborate with program and leadership sta to gather programmatic information, budgets, and supporting materials.
  • Ensure timely submission of all proposals and application materials.

Relationship-Building and Funder Stewardship

  • Build and maintain relationships with grant funders, including foundations, government agencies, and corporate giving programs.
  • Represent the organization in funder meetings, calls, and networking opportunities.
  • Provide updates to funders on funded programs, as needed.

Grant Management and Reporting

  • Manage awarded grants by ensuring compliance with funder requirements, deadlines, and deliverables.
  • Monitor grant-funded program performance and gather data needed for reporting.
  • Write and submit accurate and timely interim and nal reports for all grant awards.
  • Work closely with the Finance team to track grant spending and ensure alignment with budgets and ongoing funding needs.

Systems and Record-Keeping

  • Maintain accurate records of grant proposals, awards, funder communication, and reporting deadlines in the organization’s donor management database and Google Drive.
  • Develop systems to improve grant management processes and reporting efficiency.
  • Provide regular updates on grant progress and status to leadership.

Experience/Personal Qualifications:
The successful candidate will be a detail-oriented professional with experience in grant writing or management, with a proven track record of securing funding from diverse sources such as foundations, government entities, or corporate sponsors. Strong writing, storytelling, and project management skills are essential, along with experience in budgeting, compliance reporting, and using software tools like Google Sheets and donor/grant management databases. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, the ability to work independently and as part of a team, a commitment to equity, and the ability to work collaboratively across teams and with stakeholders are crucial. Preferred qualifications include familiarity with local and regional funding landscapes and experience in climate, environmental, or social justice sectors. This role requires exceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
