Member Spotlight: Stephanie Campanelli |
Name: Stephanie Campanelli (Steh-fuh-nee Kaem-puh-neh-lee) How long have you been working in the fundraising profession? Off and on for six years What do you love most about fundraising? I love building genuine relationships and sharing my passion for the mission. There’s nothing more rewarding than seeing someone’s eyes light up when they truly connect with the impact of our work and realize the difference they can make. Why did you decide to join AFPGV? Education, mentorship, and community were the driving forces behind my decision to join AFPGV. As a one-woman department, I’m building the school’s first formalized fundraising program from the ground up. It’s an exciting challenge, but I know I can’t do it alone. AFPGV offers the resources, connections, and support I need to grow professionally and ensure our school’s fundraising efforts have a lasting impact. What do you enjoy most about being an AFPGV member? What I enjoy most about being an AFPGV member is the incredible network of professionals I’ve had the privilege to meet. The support, shared knowledge, and camaraderie within this community are truly invaluable as I continue to grow and learn in my role. What example would you give of a strategy or practice you learned from a fellow AFPGV member or a recent AFPGV educational event that you have recently applied in the workplace that has brought you success? My AFP mentor connected me with her Events Manager, who provided invaluable insights on streamlining the checkout process for my gala. Her guidance helped me anticipate potential challenges and implement strategies to avoid pitfalls, ultimately ensuring a smoother and more successful event. Why is Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Access (I.D.E.A.) important to you and for the work we do every day as fundraising professionals? Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Access (I.D.E.A.) are essential because, as fundraising professionals, it’s not enough to simply acknowledge the diversity of the people we work with—we must actively understand and respond to their unique needs. It’s about fostering genuine sensitivity while ensuring our efforts truly support and uplift the populations our nonprofits serve. What is your advice to other AFPGV members? My advice to other AFPGV members is to fully embrace everything the organization has to offer. From networking to educational events, you never know which connection or resource will spark an idea or open a door that leads to your next success. This is similar to the advice I received upon joining! Let's get to know you! If you would like to be featured in our next member spotlight or would like to nominate someone, please contact us! |
