How long have you been working in the fundraising profession?

I have been working in the non-profit field since 2019, but I have been working as a fundraiser since 2022

What do you love most about fundraising?

I love meeting new donors and learning about their lived experiences and what they are passionate about. You meet some truly amazing people doing this work.

Why did you decide to join AFPGV?

I love learning and growing as a person. I saw AFPGV as an organization that could help me do both of those things.

What do you enjoy most about being an AFPGV member?

Meeting other fundraisers, the members of AFPGV are so knowledgeable and giving of their time. You can always find someone to learn from.

What example would you give of a strategy or practice you learned from a fellow?

I learn patience in fundraising. You need to take time with donors; you cannot rush them into giving to a cause that does not matter to them. Take the time to listen to them and help them find the right cause.

Why is Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Access (I.D.E.A.) important to you and for the work we do every day as fundraising professionals?

Everyone has a different perspective on life and different experiences. We can learn so much from each other.

What is your advice to other AFPGV members?

Get involved; this chapter offers a lot of programs to attend and groups to join. The more active you are, the more you will get out of being a member.
