Description of Responsibilities: This position is responsible for the implementation, management, and evaluation of RAIHN’s fundraising, donor development, and community and volunteer engagement. This position works closely with the Executive Director, Board of Directors, staff members, media, donors and volunteers to enhance and support the overall mission of the organization.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Serve on the Fund Development & Marketing Committee, Finance Committee, and Congregation Connections Committee.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Director and appropriate Board committees to create, implement, and evaluate a fund development plan that increases revenue to support the strategic direction of the organization.
  • Develop and manage timelines for various fundraising activities to ensure strategic plan and critical fund raising processes are carried out in a timely manner.
  • Oversee the planning and execution of fundraising events as specified in the fund development plan.
  • Engage volunteers for special fund development projects using established volunteer management practices.
  • Grow major gifts program including identification, cultivation, and solicitation of major donors.
  • Responsible for implementing and marketing a planned giving program.
  • Work with the Executive Director to oversee the maintenance of a donor and volunteer mailing list and database, including the upkeep of spreadsheets of host and support congregations, coordinators, and clergy, while respecting the privacy and confidentiality of donor and volunteer information. 
  • Identify and develop corporate, community, and individual prospects for donor and volunteer recruitment and retention.
  • Coordinate recognition and acknowledgement programs for volunteers and donors.
  • Oversee congregational and volunteer development, including leading volunteer orientations, second-level training, assisting with the recruitment of volunteers and congregations, visiting each host congregation at least once per year, and acting as point of contact for volunteers from congregations and the greater community.
  • Create annual hosting rotation list at least one year in advance, including communication with host coordinators about black-out dates.
  • Schedule, coordinate, and attend bi-monthly coordinator meetings, including taking and distributing minutes from these meetings.
  • Present and speak on behalf of the organization at community events.
  • Foster an understanding of philanthropy among the staff, volunteers, and Board of Directors.
  • Develop a comprehensive community marketing plan to promote the organization and maximize public awareness of the fundraising activities and volunteer opportunities of the organization.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Director in the creation of all social media communication, website management, media engagement, and marketing materials for the organization.
  • Other duties as required.

Education: Bachelor’s degree required

Experience/Personal Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree required.
  2. 2 years previous experience with a not-for-profit organization is desirable, preferably with experience in donor cultivation, special events planning, and volunteer engagement.
  3. Competency in Word, Excel, Dropbox, Google Docs, and knowledge of database management, preferably SalesForce.
  4. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including public speaking and the ability to work with individuals of diverse backgrounds.
  5. Strong organizational skills and flexibility, as well as the ability to be a critical and supportive part of a small staff.
  6. Self-starter and goal driven to initiate donor visits and fundraising calls.
  7. Motivation to get out of the office and build external relationships.
  8. Able to organize and multi-task effectively.
  9. A valid NYS drivers’ license and proof of liability insurance coverage.
