Description of Responsibilities: 

  • Oversee, organize, support, and implement key campus activities and events, such as:
    • Annual Career Day (in partnership with Counseling Dept.)
    • Senior Class Breakfast
    • Annual Alumnae Reunion (every five-year classes)
    • Regional Alumnae Meet & Greets 
    • Annual Alumnae Happy Hour (Rochester)
    • Alumnae Class Lunches at Mercy 
    • Alumnae Reception before Fall Musical
    • Alumnae Reception after Golden Mass 
    • Annual Memorial Liturgy
    • Young Alumnae Holiday Social/College Experience (in partnership with Counseling Dept.)
    • Attend at times calling hours and/or funeral mass for deceased in the Circle of Mercy (e.g., alumnae, parents, friends) along with the President and VP of Advancement
    • 3 - 4 trips per year visiting and engaging alumnae, throughout the country (areas with the greatest alumnae population)
    • Launch and coordinate with Marketing Dept., Mercy’s alumnae quarterly e-newsletter
    • Responsible for annual updating of Mercy Alumnae Legacy Wall (transition from online display to in-building display)
    • Launch the listing of deceased alumnae on the website
    • Also maintain a small portfolio of donors and prospects, including personal visits and solicitations.
    • Attends school events (e.g., Golden Mass, Junior Ring Ceremony, May Day, Rose Mass, and Graduation)
    • Perform additional tasks and programs as assigned by the Vice President for Institutional Advancement
    • Grow and develop Mercy’s social media presence and engagement
    • Continue Mercy’s Monthly Alumnae Webinar Series
    • Develop and coordinate with Mercy administration and staff the purchase of class rings for students in need
    • Lead and supervise Mercy’s obituary process

Education: Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred.

Experience/Personal Qualifications:

  • A minimum of five years of related professional experience in one or more of the following areas: volunteer management, major gift fundraising, alumni relations, donor relations; stewardship; annual giving; preferably in a non-for-profit or education setting.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a variety of constituents to achieve school advancement goals.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Effective organizational skills and proven ability to successfully manage and prioritize multiple projects and/or tasks to achieve goals and meet timelines.
  • Effective project management skills.
  • Knowledge of social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn.
  • Commitment to the Our Lady of Mercy mission and its core values.
  • Willingness to travel and work some weekends and evenings.
  • Preference given to alumnae of Our Lady of Mercy School for Young Women
