Description of Responsibilities: Reporting to the Sr. Director of Development, the Manager, Annual Giving & Community Engagement is responsible for the strategic and tactical management of Hillside’s Annual Fund, a principal fundraising arm of Hillside Foundation. This position plays a lead role in community outreach efforts that contribute to the success of the Annual Fund as well as other aspects of Hillside’s advancement. Success in this role is defined by metrics including (but not limited to) total dollars raised, number of new donors secured and year-over-year increases in donor participation.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Strategic Development: With support and guidance from Foundation leadership, formulates and implements integrated strategies that support Annual Giving to Hillside, including a reliable donor pipeline for incremental increases in giving (Major Gifts).
  • Tactical Development: Plans, implements, evaluates and enhances the Annual Giving campaign. In consultation with Sr. Director of Development and the Marketing team, manages processes supporting donor solicitation at the Annual Fund level, third party fundraising efforts, GIK processes.
  • Event Management: Leads planning and execution of Foundation events, particularly the Special Santa program and the annual Golf Tournament. Events are a particular tool to engage the community, but also to cultivate and steward donors.
  • Analysis: Establishes quarterly and annual quantifiable and assessable performance metrics in consultation with Sr. Director of Development. In partnership with the Fundraising Database Manager, analyzes campaign data and results, including costs/ROI, and identifies national and Hillside-specific giving trends.
  • Donor Relations: Leads and/or participates in processes related to donor identification, cultivation and stewardship, and gift acknowledgement.
  • Community Engagement: Owns day-to-day responsibility for events, programs and campaigns, GIK processes, that increase public awareness/enthusiasm regarding Hillside’s work and community impact. Plays a lead role in strategic development of these initiatives, based on an understanding of Hillside and Hillside Foundation goals

Education: Bachelor’s degree in English, Marketing, Communications, Non-profit Management or related field of study and at least 2 years fundraising experience.

Experience/Personal Qualifications: Candidates must have an understanding of moves management and annual gifts and program-based fundraising in a donor-centric environment. Working knowledge of principles and practices of advancement in a small to medium advancement organization preferred. Strong writing / communication skills are essential. Experience with event and/or project management will be critical. Knowledge and use of Raiser’s Edge Constituent Relationship Management (CRM) donor database is preferred.
