Detailed Job Description: The Director of Foundation Relations works closely with the university senior administrators, department leadership and faculty to raise the necessary support for identified priorities. Manages a portfolio of approximately 100 prospects, creates proposal submission strategies for all prospects, develops relationships with private and family Foundations, solicits major grants above the $100,000 level, and coordinates effective donor stewardship. Reporting to the Executive Director of Foundation Relations, this individual focuses on face-to-face cultivation of major private foundations. The Director of Foundation Relations works collaboratively with the Institute-wide advancement team on behalf of RIT, and continuously seeks ways to increase effectiveness and efficiency.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Manage a portfolio of approximately 100 prospects.
  • Develop and cultivate relationships with private and family Foundations.
  • Work strategically with university senior leaders, faculty and staff to develop proposal submission strategies for those prospects.
  • Solicit grants in the $100,000 -plus range and coordinate effective stewardship plans and grant reporting requirements.
  • Represent Foundation Relations at various training opportunities, workshops, and events on- and off-campus.
Required Minimum Qualifications
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in a non-profit, government or philanthropic setting with demonstrated knowledge of proposal writing and grants management
  • Excellent analytical and editorial writing skills
  • Excellent oral communication skills
  • Sophisticated interpersonal and project management skills
  • High degree of computer literacy
  • Willingness to travel
