Description of Responsibilities: RIT's University Advancement is hiring an Assoc. Director of Advancement for the College of Science(COS) and College of Health Sciences and Technology(CHST). The Assoc. Director for COS and CHST works with administrators and faculty to raise the necessary support for identified priorities. COS was among the first colleges offering undergraduates hands-on research in the applications of science and mathematics. CHST is RIT’s newest college and part of the Institute of Health Sciences and Technology. CHST focuses on educating future healthcare professionals and applying new technologies in healthcare.The Assoc. Director manages a portfolio of prospects, creates fundraising strategies for prospects, develops relationships with donors, solicits gifts between $5,000 and $250,000, and coordinates donor stewardship. The Assoc. Director reports to the Director and works with the Advancement team.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop an understanding of the educational, research, operational, and financial needs and goals of their assigned College(s)
  • Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward leadership annual gift and major gift donors and prospects in coordination with faculty, staff, and volunteers through the proper clearance process
  • Assist in planning, coordinating, and directing special events for donors and prospects
  • Make appropriate use of time and resources; plan travel; continuously update the prospect management database with donor strategies, proposals, contacts, and results.

Minimum Requirements
  • Five years of successful annual fund or major gift fundraising or customer-centered constituent engagement or marketing/sales experience
  • High degree of computer literacy
  • Travel required
  • Ability to manage complex projects and manage detail
  • Sophisticated interpersonal skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
