Description of Responsibilities: Under the general direction of the Director of Community Engagement, the Communications Associate will be responsible for coordinating stakeholder communications, supporting all development and fundraising communications, and collecting content to be used in communications and marketing materials. The Communications Associate will collaborate with development and will serve as a member of the Community Engagement/Marketing Team, reporting directly to the Director of Community Engagement.


  • Responsible for collecting content, creating communications materials such as emails, newsletters, or other materials, and distributing via determined channels.
  • Create and distribute content via social media platforms. 
  • Coordinate communications activities with the marketing team aligned with agency goals and annual communications plans.
  • Partnering with Development staff, coordinate fundraising communications including direct mail appeals, fundraising email campaigns, donor newsletters, digital fundraising, and other development marketing and communications. 
  • Respond to external community stakeholders via the Community Relations email, social media messages, and all website inquiries. Forward any inquiries to the appropriate staff members. 
  • Organize all communications content for the department including stories, photos, videos, materials and other communications content. 
  • Partner with program staff and support communications to current and past program participants. 
  • Partner with Marketing, Program/Department leaders, and Human Resources to execute internal communications initiatives and strategies. 
  • As assigned by the Director of Community Engagement, represent the agency at various events and activities.
  • Supports DEI & B in all publications, communications, and materials.
  • Supports all members of the agency with internal planning and execution of communication to support the youth, individuals, families and the community.

Education: Associate's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. 1-3 years’ experience in communications, development, nonprofit, and marketing.

Experience/Personal Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of standard marketing tools and demonstrated experience with web, social media, and communications tools. Proficiency with the Adobe Creative Suite or Graphic Design is a plus.
  • Must have the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and non-verbally, and to work in partnership with others in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written communication skills; including public speaking, creative copywriter, journalistic mindset.
  • Collaboration with agency-wide staff, as well as youth, on representing the people we serve to the community at large in a safe and compliant manner. 
  • Comprehensive knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database management. 
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills with strong attention to detail.
