Description of Responsibilities: The Manager of Donor Engagement works closely with the Vice President of Development & Communications and the Director of Development and plays an integral role in cultivating, soliciting and stewarding gifts from annual donors and collaborates to increase organizational support.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Works collaboratively between the communications and development departments; develops and leads a comprehensive annual giving program, including strategies to incorporate direct mail, e-campaigns, telemarketing campaigns, donation box program, Community Care Alerts, and Autos for Animals.
  • Focuses annual giving program on new donors, donor retention, mid-level and major gifts pipelines, overall increasing the annual gift amounts of individual donors.
  • Plans and implements multiple direct mail appeals, including constituent selection, and removal of targeted prospects from inappropriate direct mail solicitation; oversees mail-house, mailing schedule, theme, and artistic concept while coordinating with Director of Development and Vice President of Development & Communications. Coordinates production and mailing of newsletters including vendor communication and vetting.
  • Manages Furever Yours Monthly giving program. Including bringing new donors into the program, providing them proper stewardship and asking for increased support. Where appropriate, transfer their relationship into the mid-level or major gift programs.
  • Writes new acknowledgment letters regularly and, in collaboration with Development Assistant and Development Database Manager, ensures accurate and timely preparation and distribution of acknowledgments.
  • Works in conjunction with Director of Development in setting yearly annual giving goals and departmental budget. Monitors expenses.
  • Maintains database with appropriate donor contact information; assures confidentiality and accuracy of donor information.
  • Responds to donor concerns or complaints.
  • Supports Development & Communications Department efforts including Special Events.
  • Carry out responsibilities in accordance with the company’s policies and applicable state/ federal laws

Education: Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 4 years annual giving or fundraising experience preferred. A combination of education and experience will be considered if aligned with the position. Experience with Raiser's Edge development software is highly preferred.

Experience/Personal Qualifications: Supports Diversity, Equity & Inclusion in all interactions, communications and publications. Must have the ability to deal tactfully and professionally with the public - on the phone, 1-on-1 in person and leading group tours of the facility. Possess strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to collect, analyze and present data for strategic accomplishment and course correction. Demonstrated ability to take primary responsibility for a diverse number of projects and to complete them in a timely manner with limited supervision. Proficiency in computer applications required (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).Physical Demands: Performs work primarily in an office setting. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, feel, speak, hear and see.
