Virtual Coffee Connections: Community-Centric Fundraising Principles Part 1

Program Overview
Community-Centric Fundraising is a movement with the goal of transforming our practice of nonprofit development and philanthropy by grounding it in equity and social justice. It was founded by a group of Black, Indigenous, and people of color (BIPOC) fundraisers in Seattle who, in their lived experience, saw the many ways that those who work in this profession are harmed.

In this two part discussion we're review the ten Community-Centric Fundraising Principles. Part one will go over 1-5.

  1. Fundraising must be grounded in race, equity, and social justice.
  2. Individual organizational missions are not as important as the collective community.
  3. Nonprofits are generous with and mutually supportive of one another.
  4. All who engage in strengthening the community are equally valued, whether volunteer, staff, donor, or board member.
  5. Time is valued equally as money.
