Ignite Passion!

This year’s Regional Conference features the nationally recognized team of Alice Ferris, ACFRE, and Jim Anderson, CFRE, of GoalBusters Consulting, and global leadership coach Pam Sherman, President of the Sherman EDGE™.

Alice and Jim will set the afternoon ablaze with a keynote presentation on the vital role of storytelling in fundraising. Donors don’t give because of a Powerpoint presentation- they donate because of a desire to make a difference! Learn how igniting a donor’s passion for your organization’s mission is a key factor in building a meaningful philanthropic relationship.

Pam Sherman lights up our second session as we shift to cultivating passion within ourselves as professional fundraisers. Pam focuses on developing authenticity, expressiveness and energizing leadership skills designed to improve creativity, confidence, and ultimately result in greater impact both personally and professionally.

Alice and Jim then return to answer our burning questions about meaningful engagement through social media! This interactive session addresses the role social media plays in our communities, effective strategies for its efficient use, and discussion about what motivates donors of different generations on social media.

The afternoon concludes with our newly enhanced “Cocktails and Conversations” hour! Combining the popularity of our Table Topics sessions led by local experts, with the fun of a happy hour. Enjoy a beverage while exploring the topics that interest you most! Broken down into two 30-minute sessions, you can visit more than one table, or stay at one and keep the conversation going.

Storytelling: Communicating Your Mission with Infectious Passion
Alice Ferris, ACFRE and Jim Anderson, CFRE

It has been said that no one ever gave to an organization because of a Powerpoint presentation. So why do people contribute to a cause? Because their passion for making a difference has been ignited! You can help ignite a prospective donor’s passion for your cause through the fundamentals of storytelling. Whether you’re telling the story through a grant proposal, a video message, a radio announcement, or one-on-one, you can use storytelling structure to pull the donor into the picture and help them see their role in making your mission a success.

Afternoon Session 2

Plug In! Engaging People Through Social Media
Alice Ferris, ACFRE and Jim Anderson, CFRE

Does social media exist to share funny cat photos or pictures of one’s children? Or conversely, is it a quick fix that will save your nonprofit organization? Social media tools are neither of those things but can be critical to advancing your cause, if used effectively. In this interactive session, we address the role social media is playing in our communities; giving characteristics and motivations across generations and other subgroups that use it ways to integrate social media with traditional marketing tools and strategies to make the platform more efficient and effective for your nonprofit.
