A message from new AFPGV President, Jillian Carter

Welcome to 2020! It’s a new year with new opportunities for each of us to grow personally and professionally. I hope that you look to the Association of Fundraising Professionals Genesee Valley Chapter (AFPGV) as a resource to help you do just that. AFPGV is committed to providing its members opportunities to network, grow and advance in your career.

A colleague introduced me to AFPGV when I began my fundraising career in 2006 and I’ve been involved ever since. In 2014, I joined the AFPGV Board of Directors, where I have served as secretary, treasurer and now, president. I am honored to serve in this role and look forward to working alongside our dedicated board to provide our members with incredible resources and networking opportunities.

We have an exciting line up of hot topic programs this year. The Education Committee has worked hard and listened to your feedback as they put together this year’s offerings. There is something for everyone regardless of where you are in your journey as a fundraising professional.

I encourage and welcome you to dive in to AFPGV headfirst this year. In addition to attending programs and events, look to:

-  volunteer on a committee or join the board of directors, and
-  offer feedback, recommend speakers and education topics.

If you haven’t already, I hope that you’ll consider an AFPGV Yearlong Pass. For just $99, members can register for the entire year of education programs and networking events. This is a 20% discounted rate and automatically pre-registers you for the events throughout the year. Hurry, this offer is only available through Jan. 29. To learn more, click here. And while you’re at it, check out our newly redesigned website!

Lastly, I encourage you to take a look at our Chapter’s scholarship opportunities, which provide educational opportunities for our regional conference, AFP membership, and more.

I look forward to seeing you soon. Please feel free to reach out with any questions or feel free to share feedback.

Cheers to a successful year,

Jillian Carter
